The Compass Sweater Lite is the worsted weight version of my original Compass Sweater, both inspired by the lines of a compass. The 4 raised lines down the front/back and sleeves mimic the NSEW points on a compass, while the raglan seams mimic the NW, SW, SE, NE lines. It has a v-neck front and is worked top-down. The sleeves and edging have a 1x1 ribbed hem, and the bottom hem features a side-split. The sweater is designed to fall around mid-hip level. The pattern will have options for waist shaping (if desired), and modifying length! The sweater is designed to have a slightly “loose” fit through the body and fitted sleeves, but you can create a more fitted garment by sizing down (see notes about sizing). This is a #sizeinclusive design

Sizes offered: 30 (34, 38, 42) {46, 50, 54} (58, 62, 66, 70)
sizes 66 and 70 are untested
Note: These measurements are for the FINISHED bust size in inches, and the sweater is designed for 1-5 inches of positive ease. To determine the best size for you, measure your actual bust in inches, and add 1-5 inches depending on how fitted you want the sweater to be. If you are in between sizes, size up for a looser fit or size down for a more fitted garment.

Needles required:
5 mm for body (or size needed to obtain gauge)
4.5 mm for ribbing (or one size down from your body needles)
Note: Interchangeable needles are your friend! You will need an appropriate length of cord for your body size, and for sleeves you may use a 16” cord, long cord with magic loop method, or DPNs.

Gauge:
4” x 4” = 18 sts x 22 rows
using 5 mm needles and working in stockinette, in the round (after blocking)
1” x 1” = 4.5 sts x 5.5 rows
make sure to complete a gauge swatch and adjust needle size if needed!
Note: If your stitch count is correct for gauge, but row count is not, use this needle size but remember you may need to adjust your length

Yarn required: Any worsted weight yarn (I used Knitpicks Swish Worsted) as long as you can achieve gauge.

Yarn alternatives used by testers:
Cascade 220 Superwash Merino
Malabrigo Rios
Patons Classic Wool Worsted

Yardage required: 670 (795, 895, 1010) {1110, 1235, 1330} (1440, 1525, 1625, 1700)
Note: Yardage is an approximation and is calculated using the recommended length. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do any length modification. If doing a crop modification, less yardage will be needed. The yardage can vary depending on your gauge and knitting, so I always recommend buying extra in case you require more yardage. Most of my testers were under the suggested yardage when following the recommended lengths for body and sleeves.

Extra notions required:
Lots of stitch markers! 8 markers (ideally of one colour) for raglan seams, 3 markers (second colour) for the raised line markers, 1 marker (third colour) for the front raised line/BOR marker
Scissors
Yarn needle
Scrap yarn or extra cord for holding sections of the work
Row counter is recommended!
